Aegidius of Assisi (died 1262).

Aegidius was once visited by Saint Louis, The King of France. "When they had given each other the signs of fervent love, neither spoke a word to the other, but they departed, each one keeping silence in his own way." Buber, Ecstatic Confessions, P.49.

Answered Aegidius, "Dearest brothers, do not be surprised that he could say nothing to me, nor I to him; for the moment we embraced, the light of divine wisdom revealed his heart to me and mine to him. And standing in the eternal mirror we learned with complete comfort what he had intended to say to me and I to him, without noises of the lips and the tongue, and better if we had spoken with the lips." Ibid., P.50.
